Our first male cria was born off-site to our female Clearview's Chica. Dorian has been super-cute since day one, and he has a fantastic demenor. Having been introduced to some overly-friendly rams on my mother's sheep ranch, I was very cautious about over-handling Dorian as a cria. At two and a half years, Dorian exhibits no undesireable behavior: he is approachable, easy to handle and easy to work with while haltered. If we ever have someone come and visit our farm that wants to take an alpaca for a walk, Dorian is my first choice because he is so well behaved. Fibre samples from his first two fleeces will be submitted for analysis later this spring, and once we have the results, we'll be able to decide if Dorian has a future as a herdsire or as a fibre-guy. Either way, Dorian is one alpaca that we would happily keep around forever because he is just such a sweetie. Dorian has been free from health problems, has been screened for BVD, and is ARI registered. His CLAA registration is pending.
